Bye. Mom...its ok, you can go home by yourself, you'll be just fine.

Vacation Church School started this week. I was expecting the worst, as usual. I mean, it was Grace's first time away from people she knew or without one of us around. So when she just ran in and started playing (and I had to practically yell at her to get her to say goodbye), I was a little shocked.

Although she is very friendly and outgoing (more than any 2 1/2 yr old should be...lol), I did expect a call saying you just have to come get her at any moment. It never happened. So when I went to pick her up and saw that she'd been crying, I was secretly kind of pleased thinking that she'd missed me. I was wrong. She wanted more animal crackers and she couldn't have anymore, not to mention she was very sleepy.  Ahhhh, my bubble burst.

In my quest for my sanity, at that time I realized that I need a life.  But I am happy that she didn't have any kind of separation anxiety, that makes things a lot easier :)  I think it's time for preschool and then I can actually get a real job!  Til next time

Hot child in the city

It is so hot and humid today...guess not much is going to get accomplished. I love winter, so my hot weather friends are laughing at me while I am cursing mother nature today.

It might be of note that our house was built in 1848...so, central air or air conditioning is pretty much throwing money out the window. My parents have restored this house over the years and with the scraping of the paint last summer (which caused a terrible ordeal with lead based paint...d'oh), it was finally dubbed 99% done.

My paternal great-grandfather built this house, my grandmother was born here, and passed away here (now, that just doesn't happen anymore) on 9/10/02. I moved out when I was 23, but after being laid-off from my job of 12 years, I moved back home. Now, my daughter is here with my parents and I. So, that makes 5 generations that lived in the same house. We had 4 generations here at the same time for over a year.

Oops..rambling again.....anyway, my point is that although the ceilings are 10' up and all the rooms are connected by big open doorways and transoms...it is way to hot to function. I don't know how those women did it back when they had to actually wear clothes and be covered. Not to mention HAVING to do all the housework or face wrath for it. Hats off to the ghosts of my female ancestors who still hang around here, I admire your stamina. And if you would return my watch, grandma, I'd be very happy :)

Freeing the beast

Whew, finally had a weekend of fun......without my daughter!!  Nothing but adults...wow..almost forgot what that was like.  Went out to a fav place of my buddy's (he goes often enough to get to stay after closing time).  Got to bed at 7 am sunday morning...heehee.  I admit I can't stay up like I used to because today I'm dragging around, but it was well worth it.  My big brother may be in town next weekend..which means doing it all over again.  I am not complaining.  Weeks of kiddie programs, playgrounds, and parks have me out of touch with adult reality.  So, cheers to getting out and having fun once in awhile.  Til next time.....
