I've escaped early....

Hello J~Land pals  :)  Guess who took off early from work today?!  That's right~ME!  Gosh, you guys are smart ;)

I wasn't feeling it today.. and we only had 5 kids, so why not?  Gracie started VCS (vacation church school) today.  So I'm going to have free time during the day~yea!!

Actually, I wasn't feeling very well this morning.  Lack of sleep, too much heat, and some anticipation of VCS has done some damage to my physical state...

I got sick last year, too, when Gracie started school.  I do not understand why I get physically ill when she goes to preschool....  A friend told me its probably a psychosomatic reaction from my childhood school days.  I have no clue.

Okay, I'll leave you with some truisms about Indiana  :)

Cat

If you consider it a sport to gather your food by drilling through 18
inches of ice and sitting there all day hoping that the food will swim
by... you might live in Indiana.  (I'm not that far 'south')

If your local Dairy Queen is closed from November through March... you might live in Indiana. (hee hee, yep)

If you instinctively walk like a penguin for five months out of the year... you might live in Indiana. (um....)

If someone in a store offers you assistance & they don't work there... you might live in Indiana.  (just did that the other day ;)

If your dad's suntan stops at a line curving around the middle of his
forehead... you might live in Indiana.  (more like the tan stops where the t-shirt sleeves end and the top of where the socks hit the calves)

If you have ever worn shorts and a parka at the same time... you might live in Indiana.  (true, every winter)

If your town has an equal number of bars and churches... you might live in Indiana. (I'd have to say more bars than churches)

If you have had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number... you might live in Indiana.  (lmao!)

You know you're from Indiana when:

1. Vacation means going north or south on I-65 for the weekend.  (why not?!)

2. You measure distance in hours.  (true, and we use landmarks instead of directions ;)

3. You know several people who have hit a deer more than once.  (nope, I don't)

4. You often switch from heat to AC in the same day and back again. (only in spring and fall)

 5. You can drive 65 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging
blizzard, without flinching.  (I look forward to it)

 6. You see people wearing camouflage at social events including
weddings.
(Sand cammies are the latest rage)

7. You install security lights on your house and garage and leave
both unlocked.  (well, yeah... so we can make sure we're shooting a trash raider and not a relative)

8. You carry jumper cables in your car and your girlfriend knows how to use them.  (yep, sure do)

9. You design your kids' Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit. (just buy the costumes a couple sizes big)

10. Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled
with snow.  (Amen!)

11. You know all 5 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter, road construction, and It's Hot.  (leaving It's Hot and moving towards Almost Winter)

12. Your idea of creative landscaping is a statue of a deer next to
your blue spruce. (What is being said here?  That's wrong?)

13. Down south means Kentucky to you. (or Tennessee)

14. A brat is something you eat. (grilled with peppers and onions and brat mustard, and an ice cold MGD :)

15. Your neighbor throws a party to celebrate his new pole shed. (again, I'm not that far south)

16. You go out to a tailgate party every Friday. (not only on Fridays)

17. You have more miles on your snow blower than your car. (had to replace more snowblowers than cars)

18. You find 0 degrees, "a little chilly."  (You'd find Kitty laying out, getting tanned)

Hey, I don't know how many miles to the shore, I only know it's about two hours and I survive off landmark directions.

I have no idea what it feels like to send my own children away for the day, but I do see parents do it everyday, and NONE of them seem upset!  I guess it's something ya get used to, or they just know they would rather work than sit at home with thier kid, and I'm just jealous cuz I never had that.

Hmm, sounds like Indiana just might be the place for ol' Stupid here!  Liked the Dairy Queen reference, and the deer one as well, lol.

LMAO!  Those Indiana things are too funny.  I need to send some Virginians up there for some driving lessons in the snow!  You wouldn't believe how bad people here are, they drive 2 miles an hour in the snow and 65 on the ice.  It baffles me!

I hope Gracie is enjoying Church camp :)  ..and don't worry, I still get ill in the stomach when Pey has to go somewhere.  The first day of school I put her on the bus and came home to throw up.  No tears for me, Bernie only cries to the porcelain goddess! hehehe ;)

That was toooo funny!!  Jeff is from Illinois and he can relate to all those.  We just moved back to Virginia from Missouri and aside from the cold it's all the same here.
