Work in progress....

My day today...

First, #2 is back from being off a week, sciatica she says~though I saw no evidence of that while she was getting up and down from the floor all day.  But there is not an MD behind my name, so I'll save it (for now).

We had 15 again, but only 3 of us after 12.  The kids were asleep anyway until between 1-2, so it wasn't that bad for Mrs. Lead (she was alone from 1-1:30).  When I got back from lunch, all the kids were awake... usually there are a couple still down.  Ms. Hurricane left 2 hours early and she was being so good today... doesn't that figure?!

I think we're getting to the point where she responds to me, too... can I get an Amen here?  Today, I used some of the things I've been learning in class like using 'If/then' statements.  An example is "If you throw that toy, then you will go in timeout" being sure to follow through with it, of course.... Super Nanny would be proud  :)  Actually, getting it to work on Hurricane's, I would put Super Nanny to shame!

Consistency is really always the key.  Do what you say and say what you mean.  Don't threaten them 100 times because by then~you're already mad.  Say it once, give them time to do it--the second time you tell them is the warning (where the if/then statement would apply), give them time to do it.  If they haven't complied in the time you set, follow through with punishment, whether it is time out, taking away privileges, whatever you decide.

Luckily, I learned that many years ago and long before Gracie was even a thought.  I highly recommend learning from other people's kids, because I get how hard it can be with your own... and wanting to just have some peace and quiet.  But giving in let's the kid(s) have the control.  Oh, wait.... I don't have a PhD behind my name either.......

Mrs. Office Manager/Personnel/Scheduler/Receptionist asked me if I could work tomorrow or Friday, so if any of you guys are planning on calling me~let me know here first, I may not be answering the phone  :::winks:::  Honestly tomorrow is Gracie's party at school and Dad won't be home, so I have no sitter.  But Friday, I could pick up 4 hours... just not all day.  Ok, 6 hours  :)

Dad bought Grace's music for her dance recital in May.  There are 2 DVDRs, one for tap, one for ballet.  I'm hoping Mrs. Dance Teacher videoed herself so I don't have to take time off work to go and watch them to help her practice.  I'll watch them tomorrow while Dad is gone.  Fingers crossed that its not just music on them (why would you waste a DVDR for music?).  Wish for me, will you?!

Okay, I think that wraps up my day......

Amen!   Preach it sistah ;)  I 100% agree with you on the parenting stuff, that was probably one of the biggest struggles with Chris and I in parenting...getting him to talk to her 'properly' because words and what you say does mean a lot at this age.  My biggest fight with him was not doing the 'I love you..BUT, do this'  Finally I got him to change the order of it, say 'I don't like your room being messy, BUT I love you.'  ARGH!  can you write a manual to go with the man too!  that's the part I have a hard time with ;)
Hope Grace has a great time at her party!
Take it easy Cat~

I'm assuming you do daycare for a living.  All I can say is KUDOS to you because I couldn't do it..lol  Yep, consistency is the key.  I have learned that very quickly with my daughter.

Awhhh I bet Gracie's dance recital will be soo cute.  My daughter is also in tap/ballet and I can't wait for her recital.
