The numbers on the inner circle represent the 'Houses', there are 12. It is divided into four sections (horizontally through 3 and 9 o'clock, and vertically through 12 and 6 o'clock). From 9 to 12 is called the Ascendant, 12 to 3 is the Medium Coeli, 3 to 6 is the Descenant, and 6- 9 is the Imum Coeli.
