We've only just begun

I am so happy, I can't believe it!    Spaceship One has made it twice, uneventfully, into space.  It made its first venture last Wednesday, and it second and qualifying trip for the $10 million dollar X prize, founded by Peter Diamandis, was completed today.   This is a huge step towards space exploration and settlement.  For fellow space enthusiasts, this means there will be flights into space as soon as enough are built.  I know there are many people interested in going to look at the vastness beyond our atmosphere.  I am one :::though I'm pretty sure I won't be able to afford a ticket:::      Spaceship One is the baby of Burt Rutan, funded by Paul Allen, Microsoft co-founder.  Mr. Rutan founded Scaled Composites in 1982.   Scaled Composites, LLC is an aerospace and specialty composites development company located in Mojave, CA.  Scaled has broad experience in air vehicle design, tooling, manufacturing, special composite structure design, analysis, fabrication, and developmental flight test.

Last week, Richard Branson, the British airline mogul and adventurer, announced that beginning in 2007, he will begin offering paying customers flights into space aboard rockets like the SpaceShipOne. He plans to call the service Virgin Galactic. (from AOL news)

Merchandise can be purchased at:   www.rocketboosters.org  all proceeds go to charity.

I have always been a big fan of space exploration, believing there are answers to questions on Earth out there.  Did you know there are theories that suggest the sites of the 7 wonders of the world were actually built on spots where the magnetic field of the Earth is the strongest, acting like some big radar or honing device... but to who or what?  Man has always looked to the heavens, we look up for God, we look up and wonder.  Our planet is just a tiny spec of what the solar system and galaxy consist of.  It is a brave new world.

So, would any of you go into space?  Count me in!

Well, not only couldn't I ever afford it in my lifetime, but as cool as I think space is and traveling among the stars...my fears would take over and I would have to pass.  I have never even been in a plane!!
*hugs*
